ABSTRACT

The Vikings were a very influential people. From the 8th to the 11th century, the Vikings had power in Scandinavia and other parts of the world such as England and Iceland. They started as a warrior people who would pillage and raid nearby lands; however, over time they transformed into a more peaceful people. The Vikings have a rich history with many different elements including a different religion from much of the world. Modern media outlets such as film and television have made many movies and television shows portraying the Viking culture. There are plenty of enjoyable films, but the question to be asked is if they are accurate depictions of Viking society?
